Fertility and STD Complication in Men

 

Male infertility: There’s a hidden cause of fertility trouble that you don’t hear about very often: Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD).

STDs can lie dormant in your body for years, causing symptoms so mild you might not even notice them.

If you have STD and you do not get yourself checked and treated, your female partner will get infected and this may be the cause why both of you are having trouble conceiving.

If you and your partner are trying to conceive, it is best that both of you get screened for STDs.

Chlamydia and Fertility

Chlamydia can be easily treated with antibiotics.

But since many don’t realize they have chlamydia, it often goes untreated.

Only some people who have chlamydia will have complications.

If chlamydia is treated early, it’s unlikely to cause any long-term problems.

The more times you have chlamydia the more likely you are to get STD complications.

Gonorrhea is a common STD that often causes no symptoms.

If gonorrhoea is treated early it is unlikely to cause any long-term problems.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) can be transmitted through sexual intercourse.

HIV cannot be cured and there is currently no vaccine to prevent it, but safer sex practices can prevent transmission.

There is no evidence that syphilis will affect fertility in men or women.

However, syphilis can be transmitted from mother to foetus during pregnancy.

This is known as congenital syphilis and can result in health problems for the child at birth and later in life.
